Car Bomb For Roaches: How to?

Foggers and roach bombs are an easy way to kill roaches or get rid of heavy infestation. Unfortunately, roaches are nasty creatures, and they can even infest your vehicle.

Using a car bomb for roaches seems an exciting idea and an easy solution, but foggers are not designed for small tight spaces like a car. However, there is still a way.

You can use a roach bomb to get rid of roaches in your car by parking it inside a closed garage with your car doors, engine bay & trunk open. Then, turn on your fogger and close the garage for 3-4 hours. Make sure your car is switched off while bombing. Properly let all air out before ignition.

Using a fogger with a car in a garage is more useful as roaches can hide in your trunk or engine bay as well. Bombing inside your car with closed doors is not recommended.

I have written a complete article on how to get rid of roaches in a car which you can read here: How to Get Rid of Roaches in Your Car

How to car bomb for roaches?

Let’s discuss in detail how you can use a fogger to get rid of roaches in your car.

Step 1: Don’t Bomb inside your car, instead park it inside a garage

The volume of a car is quite small than the recommended size for a fogger. So, technically speaking, there is no problem in using a fogger in your car, but it can over contaminate your car.

Secondly, it’s a violation of federal law to use a fogger in a manner inconsistent with its label. So better avoid using it inside your car.

So another good idea is to find a close garage and park your vehicle inside it. Ensure all garage doors are closed so roaches can not run into your home to infest it.

Step 2: Remove all items from your car

The second step to car bomb for roaches is to remove everything from your car including all cushions, tissue boxes, scents, items inside glove boxes, or storage boxes, floor mattes, etc.

Removing these items will make sure they don’t get contaminated while you bomb your car for roaches. You can put them inside a plastic bag and airtight seal it to make sure any roaches inside them also die due to lack of moisture.

Step 3: Open all glove boxes

The next step is to open all storage and glove boxes inside your car so that fog mist can reach every part of your car.

Step 4: Open all door with windows down

Open all doors with windows down for bombing particles to reach all parts of your car. Also, downing your car windows will help create an easy air path for the fogger particles.

Step 5: Open your engine bay

Once you are done opening your car windows, open the front hood to reveal your engine bay. This will make sure the fogger particles reach all possible crevices and tight spots in your engine bay to eliminate roaches inside your car.

Step 6: Open your car trunk and remove everything from it

Now open your car truck and remove everything out of it. Make sure nothing is infested while you remove it.

This may include your spare tire, lift jack, and tool kit to change a tire. Also, remove your truck matte if it’s easily removable.

Once everything is out, leave your car trunk wide open. This will make sure entry of fogger particles everywhere inside your car trunk.

Step 7: Make sure all doors and windows are closed

Before starting the fogger, make sure all windows and doors to the garage are properly closed for the bomb to work k, else it won’t work. Also, check this article on why do I see roaches after bombing.

Step 8: Turn off all electrical appliances and lights

Its recommended to turn off all electrical appliances and lights to avoid any chance of fire. Also, foggers are highly flammable, so you need to be extra careful with them.

Step 9: Place the fogger near your car on a table

The next step is to follow the instructions on the fogger you are using and place it around 2 feet above the floor on a table. Next, place some paper beneath it.

Make sure the fogger is near the car’s back door for a better chance of the fogger particles getting inside your car.

Step 10: Turn on the car bomb for roaches

Now it’s time to turn on and initiate the fogging. Follow the instructions on the fogger label to turn it on.

Step 11: Quickly close your garage door

Once the fogger is turned on, it’s time to leave and close your garage door. This will confine the fogger particles to your garage and they will get inside your car in and out to kill roaches where ever they are hiding.

Step 12: Wait for 3-4 Hours

You will have to wait for 3-4 hours before opening your car garage to see results. Opening your garage doors earlier will make the bomb ineffective.

Once the said period on the fogger label has passed, you can open your garage doors.

Step 13: Let all air get out before starting your car

Once you have opened your garage, wait for 30 minutes for all air to be naturally replaced with fresh air. Don’t close your car doors while you wait.

Step 14: Clean your car

Now the next step is to clean your car thoroughly to remove any contamination on open surfaces.

DON’T VACCUM. Also don’t clean under your seats or tight spaces. The fogger particles sitting in these spots will keep killing any roaches which are still hiding inside your car.

Step 15: Take precuations to avoid reinfestation

In the end, take all necessary precautions to avoid reinfestation inside your car. The foremost is to keep your car clean and avoid eating inside your car. Roaches can not survive without food and a car-free of food droppings can not sustain roaches.

Best Car Bomb for Roaches

There are plenty of options of roach foggers you can buy and all of them are equally good. However, the following three are my favorite. What are the Best Roach Bombs?

1. Harris 12 Week Indoor Insect Fogger

This pack comes with 3 canisters, each to cover 2000 CC of space. On testing, the active ingredient killed bugs and destroyed eggs and showed 9 weeks of residual effect (Although they claim 12 weeks). Price is very convenient, and the product is always in stock.

Effectiveness: 9/10
Active Ingredient: Cypermethrin
Nature: Non-Organic
Down Sides: Product quality issue noted by one of my friends, Not fit around pets.
Cost: Economical

2. Hot Shot Fogger With Odor Neutralizer,

This product performed very well in terms of efficacy. I preferred the Hot Shot fogger over the Harris fogger because of its odor neutralizing capability. Still, my relatives were not convinced of the poor residual roach-killing effects (although it contains more cypermethrin). They said that roaches started reappearing after a week.

Effectiveness: 9/10
Active Ingredient: Cypermethrin + Tetramethrin
Nature: Non-Organic
Down Sides: High demand makes it short in supply, poor residual effect.
Cost: Borderline

3. Bengal Chemical 55201 Roach and Flea Indoor Fogger

This is probably the most economical fogger. If you want a cheap solution to a low roach infestation, this product is definitely for you. I found it compelling and has a good residual effect.

Effectiveness: 8/10
Active Ingredient: Permethrin
Nature: Non-Organic
Down Sides: Highly Toxic and Flammable.
Cost: Highly affordable
